Uintah crowned three champs with Colby Christensen (119), Damon Mele (135) and Taylor Merkley (140). Christensen was named as the outstanding wrestler in the lower weight classes.

Damon - Undefeated all week and won the "Best of the Best" at the Green River Tournament.

Three Utes chosen for Utah All-Star Duals




Uintah High School wrestlers Taylor Merkley, Colby Christensen, and Damon Mele, were recently selected to wrestle at the Utah All-Star Duals in honor of their outstanding performance on the mat during the last several seasons. (Gary Parker/Vernal Express article here.)

After Red & White, Utes wrestle duals, and learn Vernal Express
Stensgaard also praised Damon Mele, a returning state champion who went 8-2 in the event.
“He’s so good that we can move him around, and wrestle him against bigger wrestlers and he is still competitive,” said Stensgaard.
(Damon missed the Red and White Ute dual because of the death of his Grandma Mele.)
